Avro Arrow replica project
The Avro Arrow replica project in Malton is a tribute to Canada’s most famous aeronautical achievement and the community that built it. Located in Paul Coffey Park, this massive installation honours the CF-105 Arrow, a supersonic interceptor that was once the most advanced aircraft in the world. The original jets were designed and manufactured right in Malton during the late 1950s before the project was abruptly cancelled by the federal government in 1959.

Coyote Awareness
The City of Mississauga has recently issued a specialized coyote awareness alert for Malton and surrounding areas to help residents safely co-exist with local wildlife. This seasonal focus is particularly important during the spring months because it coincides with coyote denning season, a time when these animals are more active and potentially more protective of their territory. As they seek out safe places to raise their pups, coyotes are frequently spotted in residential backyards, local parks like Paul Coffey Park, and the wooded areas near the airport.

FreshPro Foodmart now open
The opening of FreshPro Foodmart at Westwood Square Mall on March 26, 2026, marks a major turning point for the Malton community. For the past five years, this specific location at 7333 Goreway Drive sat completely empty after the local Walmart permanently closed its doors in June 2021. The loss of that Walmart was a significant blow to the area, as it was a primary source for affordable household goods and groceries for many residents, especially those who do not drive and rely on the nearby transit terminal.

Malton Youth Hub
The opening of the Malton Youth Hub, also known as the Jonathan Davis Centre, represents a massive investment in the future of young people in the community. This 18,000-square-foot facility was created through a clever renovation of the old, unused swimming pool at Lincoln M. Alexander Secondary School. By transforming a vacant space into a high-tech center for teenagers and young adults between the ages of 12 and 25, the city has provided a safe and modern place for residents to learn new skills and hang out with friends.
