HISTORY
Westwood Mall
The land where Westwood Mall currently lays was nothing more than farmland owned by the Shaw family until being sold to developers in 1954. Now, Westwood Mall is the heart of Malton with tourists regularly visiting for great deals and with the main bus stop where there is a 30 minute connection to the Toronto Subway line.
Westwood Mall has undergone many transformations over the years. The old movie theatre was transformed into several department stores including Zellers and then was vacant for a long time. Now it houses many business. The old Rogers Video was converted to a police station. The North Grocery store (formerly Food Basics and near the Bus Station) is now a thriving Walmart.
